Listening To Leamington: a live internet transmission of original writing, music and anecdote

Listening To Leamington: a live internet transmission of original writing, music and anecdote. Saturday 2nd June 2012, 10.30am-12.30pm and 2.00-4.00pm (UK time) at www.radiowildfire.com

It’s the 75th anniversary of the Mass Observation Movement and www.radiowildfire.com is holding its own mass observation of Leamington Spa as part of the town’s arts and heritage festival.

Mixing original creative writing based on things seen and heard on the day, instant musical responses from pianist John Garrett and anecdotes collected from passers-by, Radio Wildfire will be transmitting live over the internet from Gallery 150 in central Leamington Spa. Also in the programmes will be a specially written sequence of poems about the town’s iconic Linden Arches by Jacqui Rowe of Flarestack Poets; work from Gabrielle Byam Grounds based on a set of her parents love letters, with music by English Serenata; contributions from Julie Boden, poet in residence at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall; and tracks of music and satire uploaded to the Radio Wildfire website by artists living in Leamington Spa.

As part of Leamington Looks Back festival of arts and heritage, Listening To Leamington will be recorded and donated to the Warwickshire County Archives as a creative snapshot of one day in the town’s life.

You will be able to listen to the programmes from anywhere in the world by using your computer or mobile device to log onto www.radiowildfire.com

Listening To Leamington is funded by Warwick District Council
